Microstructure evolution during sintering: discrete element method approach

چکیده
We present a new numerical model describing the transformation of powder crystalline particles into dense poly-crystalline material. It is based on key phenomena sintering: shrinkage and grain coarsening driven by minimization free energy. Representing each truncated sphere, takes account complex changing shape grains for determining thermodynamic driving forces associated kinetic coefficients. validate comparing temporal evolution system four with that obtained from mesh-based method. performed simulations polydisperse packings up to 16,000 particles. Using material process parameters literature, accurately reproduces experimental data size distribution alumina.

Finite element simulation of microstructure evolution during friction stir welding of automotive aluminum parts
7000 series Aluminum alloys are widely used in the automotive industries for structural lightweight components due to their exceptional high strength to weight ratio. However, this class of aluminum alloy is difficult to join by conventional fusion welding techniques so Friction stir welding (FSW) widely is used for welding this alloys. The process has been demonstrated to be effective and is c...

متن کاملFluid Properties Effects on Sand Production using Discrete Element Method
Oil production may be accompanied by Sand Production (SP) in the weak sandstone reservoirs. Fluid flow is an important factor in transporting the separated grains and completing the SP mechanism. In this paper, the effect of fluid parameters, fluid flow, and fluid pressure on the SP is investigated by applying the Discrete Element Method (DEM). Parametric studies show that fluid velocity is red...
متن کاملRock Slope Stability Analysis Using Discrete Element Method
Rock slope stability depends very much on the strength features of the rock and the geometrical and strength characteristics of the discontinuities (e.g., roughness, wall strength and persistence). Since a rock mass is not a continuum, its behavior is dominated by such discontinuities as faults, joints and bedding planes. Also, Rock slope instability is a major hazard for human activities and o...
متن کاملUltrasonic characterization of microstructure evolution during processing
Ultrasonic characterization of microstructure evolution during processing" (2007). Many cold-working processes for polycrystalline metals cause alignment of the grains with a single symmetry axis. This type of microstructure is called fiber texture. The existence of a preferred orientation of the grains has a significant influence on the propagation and scattering of ultrasonic waves, which are...
